Volunteer

Volunteering: It’s Good For You!

Volunteering’s not just about giving back – it goes both ways. It improves your wellbeing, gives you skills for the future, and helps you make new friends (and memories).

A fresh face and an extra pair of hands are always welcome with us!

All our activities are run by volunteers, who might join us because they want to:

  • Try something new
  • Make friends
  • Spend time with their children – or gain experience with young people
  • Do something good for their community and themselves
  • Keep their bodies and brains active and happy – whether that’s by scaling mountains, sharing skills or serving tea

All end up making a huge difference to young people’s lives – gifting them with skills for life, and learning a whole lot about themselves along the way.

But don’t just take our word for it. Take theirs.

You can find out more about what volunteering with the Scouts is like, and get in touch with us to have a chat about what you’d like to get out of a volunteering experience.

We’re currently looking for volunteers for section teams, trustees and generally folk who can help out occasionally. We also have opportunities for young leaders, either from Explorer sections within the district or young people working towards their Duke of Edinburgh awards.

Please fill out the form below if you’d like more information.

Section Teams

Section Teams are the people that run our Dreys, Colonies, Packs and Troops each week, devising and following a fun and diverse programme to help our young members learn skills and have experiences across their Scouting career.

Trustees

Trustees provide a guiding hand on the group and a crucial role in how the group is governed as an organisation under Charity Commission rules. Typically Trustees meet with the Group Leadership Team once a term for updates on the current status of the group and provide useful peer review on future plans.
